700 Added Entry - Personal Name

Field definition and scope:

Field 700 contains a personal name used as an added entry. Added entries are assigned to give access to the community information record from personal name headings which may not be more appropriately assigned as 600 (Subject Added Entry - Personal Name).

Field 700 is repeatable.

First Indicator - Type of personal name entry element

Values 1 - Single surname [redefined]

2 - Multiple surname [obsolete]

In 1996, the first indicator value 2 (Multiple surname) was made obsolete. Value 1 (Single surname) was redefined as Surname to be used for headings with either single or multiple surnames.

Subfield $g - Miscellaneous information [changed, 2014]: In 2014, subfield $g was made repeatable.
