447 See From Tracing - Named Event

Field definition and scope:

Field 447 contains a tracing for a named event see from reference. It is used in an established heading record or an established heading and subdivision record to trace a see from reference from a named event not used to an established heading.

The National level record requirement for this field is Mandatory if applicable.

Field 447 is repeatable.

Guidelines for applying content designators:

The content designators identify the subelements occurring in named event headings constructed according to generally accepted thesaurus-building conventions (e.g., Faceted Application of Subject Terminology (FAST)).

Named events are those which cannot be regarded as responsible agents, e.g., battles, earthquakes, famines, financial crises, fires, hurricanes, riots, strikes, volcanic eruptions, wars, etc.

Named events which can be regarded as responsible agents such as meetings or conferences as well as athletic contests, competitions, expeditions, expositions, fairs, festivals, sports events, tournaments, etc., are recorded in X11 fields.
