246 Varying Form of Title

Field definition and scope:

Field 246 contains a variant title of the event, program, etc. present in field 245 (Title). Variant forms of names recorded in 1XX (Primary Names), 6XX (Subject Entries,) and 7XX (Added Entries) are not recorded in this field. Access to these variants is usually provided in MARC authority record 4XX (See From Tracing) fields.

When displayed/printed as a note, varying forms of titles are in some instances preceded by an introductory term or phrase that is generated as a display constant based on the second indicator value.

Field 246 is repeatable.
